Amaravati, the highly-hyped people’s capital of Andhra Pradesh, is witnessing some strange developments these days.
Even as nothing has moved so far with regard to construction of official complexes like Secretariat, Assembly and high court buildings as they still remain at the designing level, the Chandrababu Naidu government has taken a sudden decision to stop works for the construction of residential complexes for the government employees at Rayapudi and Nelapadu villages in the capital region.
It is learnt even the sites identified for administrative buildings would be changed and they would be constructed at a different location.
The residential complexes too would be shifted to other places, as the government wants to alter the layout.
As part of the master plan, the Government decided to construct the residential complex on 85 lakh square feet.
The contract agencies L and T, Shapoorji Pallonji and NCC already taken up works. Already 1700 piles were laid for residential complexes. Crores of rupees were spent on the works so far.
But suddenly, the officials received instructions from the government to stop works. For the last 10 days, the works came to a grinding halt.
The contract agencies slowed down works and hinted the lands allotted for construction will be changed.
The decision to shift the buildings to other place will put heavy burden on contract agencies.
The sudden stoppage of works taken up for the construction of residential complexes for government employees in Amaravathi has taken everybody by surprise, as no reason was cited by the government.
Any idea what is happening in Amaravati? #KhabarLive
