Hyderabad celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 with grand events and impactful initiatives, all while respecting the observance of Ramadhan. The city came together to highlight women’s empowerment, safety, and economic progress through various programs.

Major Initiatives Unveiled

The Telangana government hosted a large gathering at Parade Ground, where Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launched several schemes to support women from all walks of life. Among the key initiatives:

  • Solar Power Projects – Women’s self-help groups (SHGs), including those from underprivileged and rural backgrounds, received allotment letters to establish 2MW solar power plants in all 32 districts. This initiative aims to generate both sustainable energy and stable income.
  • Public Transport Support – Financial aid was granted to women’s SHGs for purchasing buses, which will be leased to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), ensuring long-term revenue generation and better accessibility for women travelers.
  • Fuel Station Ownership – Petrol pumps in district headquarters were allocated to women’s SHGs, enabling financial independence and business opportunities, particularly for marginalized women.

Hyderabad Police’s ‘Run for Action-2025’

To reinforce the message of women’s safety and empowerment, the Hyderabad City Police organized the ‘Run for Action-2025’ at Necklace Road.

  • A welcome dance by students of Manasa School of Dance, showcasing the strength of women through art.
  • A women’s empowerment skit performed by Sannihitha Children’s Home, reflecting the voices of young girls and underrepresented communities.
